Brake Pads
All of the components in your Ford's braking system are important - they help you come to a complete stop as soon as you step on the pedal. But how much do you know about brake pads? They are what your brake calipers press up against the rotors to generate friction and stop the rotation of the wheels. Since they do come into contact with your rotors every time that you need to come to a stop, they do wear out over time and need to be replaced. It's helpful to know some of the signs that your brake pads need to be replaced so that you can grab a replacement set for your Ford as soon as possible. Some of the signs include:
- Noisy brakes. It's never good to step on the brake pedal and hear loud screeching or squealing sounds in response. Excessively worn brake pads can cause these noises because the barrier between metals is gone. Metal on metal contact can be loud.
- Pulsating pedals. If your brake pedals are pulsating when you apply your brakes, it could be due to your brake pads being worn down, and again, the metal on metal contact between the pads and rotors.
It's always good to check the condition of your brake pads, and when the time comes to grab OEM replacements, look no further than Ford Genuine Auto Parts.
